As the push for fossil fuel independence continues, everyone is beginning to re-evaluate their approach in the daily consumption of non-renewable energy.  For example, many people are driving cars with better gas mileage, building homes which are environmentally friendly, and burning wood fired furnaces to heat their dwellings and businesses.

Batey, Ltd. believes it is their responsibility to actively seek alternative energy sources.  By converting their wood chips into pellets, they will be realizing lost BTUs.  They will use a biomass gasifier furnace designed and built by Batey, Ltd. that has proven to be more ecologically fitted while producing heat with less fuel consumption.  Incorporating this biomass furnace with an innovative drying system will enable Batey, Ltd. to efficiently dry the wood chips to accepted moisture content without the use of fossil fuels. 

Wood fuels have several advantages when compared to fossil fuels that should be emphasized when trying to market.  One, wood is a renewable resource and can continually be replenished.  Second, there is little net production of carbon dioxide from its' combustion.  Third, wood fuel contains extremely low levels of sulfur so there is no threat of acid rain pollution.  Fourth, the particle emission from the combustion of wood is controllable through standard emission control devices.  Collection of the emissions, the bottom or wood ash, can be recycled as a fertilizer component in compost, increasing its nutrient value.  Fifth, the most principle advantage of wood is that is usually the least expensive compared to competing fossil fuels
